In a first: wife tests positive for Covid-19, gets married in Covid care centre

The entire world has witnessed unprecedented changes this year due to coronavirus pandemic. Even festivities and religious occasions have also been affected by them.

But despite all the hurdles, people have found out unique ways to celebrate events. A new case has emerged from Rajasthan’s Bara where a bride tested positive for Covid-19 on the day of her marriage. Then the couple decided to get married at a Covid-care Centre in the city. The couple tied the knot wearing personal protection equipment(PPE).

The wedding was captured on video which is doing the rounds on social media. News agency ANI also posted the clip that shows one person in attendance apart from the priest who performed the ceremony.

It can be seen in the video that the wedding was held keeping in mind the Covid-19 protocols as mentioned by the government. The couple wore PPE suits and sat in front of the ‘havan kund’. The groom also has a turban on his head and both of them wore face shields and gloves along with the PPE kits to ensure distancing.

“The marriage was performed following all the Covid-19 protocol. Even the pandit who came for solemnizing marriage was also wearing PPE kit,” said Dr Sampat Raj Nagar, chief medical health officer, Baran.

The video received a lot of reactions from netizens. While some admired the couple for their determination to not let the negativity get in the way of their wedding plans, others also said that the couple should not have hurried and should’ve waited for the bride to recover. A few came up with jokes and memes on it too.
