This is India’s first Digital Shadi- Couple got married via Video Conference amid lockdown

Amid a country-wide lockdown due to the coronavirus outbreak, a couple based out of Bihar’s Patna got married through a video call. This news comes at a time when the entire nation is fighting against COVID-19.

The video, which is doing the rounds on social media, shows that the couple tied the knot through a video call and solemnized marriage as per Muslim rituals. In the video, the couple can be seen exchanging vows during the wedding ceremony.

It has been learnt that the bride was in Patna, while the groom was in Uttar Pradesh. The Nikah took place in the presence of relatives from both sides and they blessed the couple.

The video, which has gone viral on the internet like wildfire, shows the wedding ceremony was conducted via video call as they were in different cities. The couple was unable to get at one place for Nikah due to the lockdown imposed, which has been imposed in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The marriage was performed in a unique way which has never been done before. In the video clip, television is seen hanging on the wall which shows the visuals from the groom’s side.

After the process of the wedding is over, people present in the room can be heard saying ‘Mubarak Ho’ and hugging one another. It is said that the video has been shot on the bride’s side. The bride is then brought in front of the television and the couple looks at each other for the first time after getting married.

Meanwhile, a 21-day long nationwide lockdown has been implemented across the country after Prime Minister Narendra Modi made an announcement while addressing the nation on 24 March.

The video of their wedding ceremony was shared by ANI with the caption, “#Watch Bihar: ‘Nikah’ of a couple was performed through video conferencing in Patna yesterday, amid lockdown in the state due to #Covid19.”
