Online Love? Bangla Man almost travels 2,000km to meet his Girlfriend across Border, caught by police

Amid the nationwide lockdown, a Bangladeshi youth tried to cross the Wagah Border in order to meet his girlfriend, just then he was caught by the Border Security Force (BSF) jawans. He was later handed over to Punjab Police.

The youth was identified as Nayanmiah Abdullah who is a resident of Baiparypara village of Shariatpura district of Bangladesh. Nayanmiah first crossed the India-Bangladesh border illegally, then covered 2,000 km, mostly on foot to reach the India-Pakistan border in the hope of meeting his social media friend from Karachi.

He tried to sneak into Pakistan without carrying any documents. He was arrested in front of the Integrated Check Post (ICP) exit gate as he wanted to go to Karachi in Pakistan to meet his ‘lady love’.

It was on Facebook that he fell in love with a girl from Karachi and decided to meet her, but he was apprehended before he could meet her. He hid this from his parents and resorted to illegal means to go to Pakistan. He was very excited and decided not to waste a single moment and started heading towards Pakistan on foot.

Nayanmiah Abdullah was arrested by BSF jawans on Wagah Border for the dodging Indian Army. It has been learnt that he had come from Bangladesh and was going to Pakistan to meet a woman he had befriended online.

It is to be noticed that the couple was in touch with each other through video calls. The girl put forward a condition that the youth should come to Karachi if he wants to marry her. In order to meet and marry the girl, he left home without any documents. He somehow managed to cross Kolkata but was caught on Wagah border before reaching Karachi.

The police have registered a case against the youth. Senior Superintendent of Police (Amritsar Rural) Vikramjit Singh Duggal said that action will be taken as per the law and the Bangladeshi embassy will be informed about the incident.
