This doctor charges only ₹5 to treat patients, one big salute to him

In today’s era, when the cost of medical treatment is skyrocketing, the stories of doctors who are dedicated to serving humanity serve as a source of inspiration for all of us. Today, we introduce you to a doctor who has decided to charge only ₹5 which signifies their dedication and compassion, making them truly deserving of great respect.

Dr. Shankar Gowda was born in the quaint village of Shivali, nestled within the Mandya district of Karnataka. Aged around 64 years, he achieved his MBBS and MD degrees from Manipal Kasturba. Beyond mere financial gains, Dr. Gowda’s aspiration was to extend reasonably priced medical assistance to the underprivileged in society. For a span of 35 years, he has been dedicatedly attending to patients, charging a mere Rs. 5 as a fee for his services.

Dr. Shankar Gowda doesn’t possess a clinic; instead, he attends to individuals while stationed on a modest platform situated outside a restaurant in Karnataka. Operating without the aid of modern technology, such as phones or computers, and being disconnected from the internet, he provides medical care. Prescriptions are dispensed on compact slips of paper. Accompanying him in this endeavor, his wife and daughter play minor roles, such as organizing patient queues.

Dr. Shankar Gowda says that he treats for such a low fee because “Doctor is considered as God’s form. And all people have many expectations from the doctor. And God never takes money, so people don’t consider him as God. He charges only 5 rupees from everyone, this also fulfills his small household expenses. People believe that there is magic in the hands of Shankar Gowda, those under his care frequently experience swift recoveries and improved health.

Despite receiving several offers from hospitals and clinics, Dr. Shankar Gowda has only one goal in mind and he is determined to stick to that goal. One of his photos went viral on social media due to which people are getting to know about him. He deserves a lot of respect.
