When Sonu Sood caught on Camera of Cobra Post, was ready to promote BJP for money

Last year, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Bollywood actor Sonu Sood along with other celebrities were accused of endorsing a political party or agenda for money. He was alleged that he was endorsing the BJP party for the Lok Sabha 2019 elections.

The actor was allegedly caught in a sting operation run by Cobrapost for promoting the agenda of parties on social media platforms in exchange for money.

However, Sonu Sood refuted the allegations of endorsing a political party or agenda for money levelled against him. Sood said, “Their intentions are not right … This is just propaganda to discredit me and sabotage my reputation.”

“When you approach an individual saying you are from the hon. Prime Minister’s office, you are obviously going to welcome them … I didn’t go to them seeking money. They came to me,” said Sood.

Sonu then issued a statement and said, “What was actually discussed has been wrongly reproduced and projected. This is a clear case of sabotage. The editing has been tampered with and only certain elements of the conversation have been used and projected in the wrong light. To add to that the background score only sensationalizes it further.”

He also added that “It is very regular for brands, political parties, individuals and corporates to use celebrity social media platforms for promotions. It’s the content being posted that needs to be responsible and something that the celebrity believes in. Even such collaborations and endorsements have to be followed in an ethical and responsible manner. In the video too, I had clearly stated that I won’t demean any party or promote anything which is not right or not true. With reference to the contract, I had also clearly stated that I want everything to officially be put on paper as that is the regular protocol. Promoting brands, political parties, individuals or corporations isn’t wrong as long as you believe in the product, the ideologies and the intention.”

The Indian actor Sonu Sood has emerged as a real hero for migrant workers and daily wage workers amid nationwide lockdown. Ever since the shutdown was announced, the migrants have been the hardest hit. They have had to struggle to get back to their homes. But seeing the workers walking on the roads on foot, Sonu Sood decided to help them.

The actor arranged buses for the hundreds of migrants who were stuck in the city owing to the epidemic. Sonu had not only sponsored the travel but also offered meal kits for the workers. Thanks to the real-life hero who stepped in at the right place and at the right time on the ground and helped migrant workers who got stuck in Maharashtra.

The Bollywood actor Sonu Sood, who is known for his roles in films like ‘Singh is Kinng,’ ‘Simmba’ and ‘Dabangg’ is widely being praised for sending migrant workers back to their homes safely.

In the need of the hour, the actor is doing his bit by sending migrant workers to their hometown. The Youth salutes Sonu Sood for his humble work in this ongoing coronavirus crisis.
