Mamata hits out at PM Modi over Limitless drama ahead of Lok Sabha elections

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his latest announcement about India’s successful representation of anti-satellite missile capabilities, stating that it was ‘yet another limitless drama’ to ‘reap political benefits’ prior to the Lok Sabha polls. She said, adding that she will file a complaint with the Election Commission.

“India’s Mission Programme is world class for many many years. We are always proud of our scientists. @DRDO_India, other research & space organisations and Modi, as usual likes to take the credit for everything,” she added.

She highlighted that: “credit to those who really deserve it. our scientists & researchers” Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that India has become the 4th nation in the world to become ‘space power’ after the likes of US, Russia and China which can take down even satellites of enemies during war.

“India has shot down an LEO satellite by an anti-satellite missile. It was conducted under Mission Shakti, which was completed in three minutes,” the Prime Minister said in a special address.

According to PM Modi, the Indian missile A-SAT hit a predestined target and the operation is called ‘Mission Shakti’ which even lasted for just 3 minutes. “India has entered its name as an elite space power. An anti-satellite weapon A-SAT successfully targeted a live satellite on a low earth orbit,” PM Modi added in a statement.

“Today’s announcement is yet another limitless drama and publicity mongering by Modi desperately trying to reap political benefits at the time of the election. This is a gross violation of the Model Code of Conduct.

“There is no great urgency in conducting and announcing the mission now by a government past its expiry date. It seems desperate oxygen to save the imminent sinking of the BJP boat. We are lodging a complaint with the Election Commission,” the West Bengal chief minister said in a string of tweets.
