Clearing UPSC exam needs some serious piece of hard work, grit and determination. Students who get started on the path towards achieving their goals always give their heart to pull off something special.

Everyone dreams to clear the Civil Services Exam, but very few are fortunate to crack the exam. Today, we are talking about such a woman named Preeti Hooda who cracked the exam in 2017.

This story is quite inspiring. If you come to know the story of Preeti Hooda, you will be perplexed for sure. Hailing from Haryana, the woman not only cleared the notoriously tough exam but also secured an all-India rank 288.

Preeti Hooda is the daughter of a bus driver who used to drive a bus in Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). According to Preity, her father was driving a bus when she told him that she had become IAS.

Preeiti has been an intelligent girl since childhood. She has scored 77% in her 10th examination and 87% in 12th. She completed her graduation in Hindi from Laxmi Bai College in Delhi and scored 76 percent marks. Now she is doing PhD in Hindi from JNU. She told during an interview with BBC Hindi that she comes from a very simple family in Haryana.

Preeti said, “When the UPSC result came, I called my father. At that time he was driving the bus. After hearing the result, my father said to me: – ‘Well done my daughter’, however, my father never congratulated me”.

During a conversation with Dainik Bhaskar, Preity had said that her interview lasted about 35 minutes, in which about 30 questions were asked. Preeti had given her interview in Hindi and her subject was also Hindi. Preity could not answer 3 questions in her interview but did not throw away her confidence. Questions related to JNU were also asked in her interview.

During the interview, Preeti was asked: – You did your graduation from JNU but why is there such a negative image of this university among the people? In response, Preeti Hooda said that: “JNU is not only known for negative images but It has got the first rank among all universities in India”.

Preeti Hooda gave her paper from the Hindi medium itself. Apart from this, her optional subject in the examination was also Hindi. She has also given her entire interview in Hindi.

Preity said about the preparation for UPSC that you have to make a strategy for your studies instead of continuously studying for 10 hours. You should have fun along with the preparation. Give yourself time to relax by watching movies and instead of reading multiple books, read only one book several times so that you can clear your concept of your subject.

The secret mantra of her success was hard work, patience, focus, discipline and family support. Ambitious people never give up on dreams, come what may. In a competitive world, where people sweat it out to give absolutely everything to crack the exam, only very few have touched the pinnacle of success and Preeti Hooda is an inspiration to all.
