Owaisi’s AIMIM leader Farooq Ahmed opens fire, shoots 3 persons on the spot

In a shocking incident, a clash broke out in Adilabad district of Telangana between two groups in which at least three people have sustained severe bullet injuries. After an altercation, AIMIM leader Mohd Farooq opened fire using his licensed revolver at them.

Police have arrested Farooq and registered a case of attempt to murder as well as under various sections of the Arms Act against him. The injured were identified as Syed Zameer, Syed Mouthesin, and Syed Mannan. They have been admitted to a government hospital where the condition of one of them was stated to be critical, police said in a release.

Old political rivalry is said to be the reason for the attack, and a clash among youths while playing cricket was the immediate provocation. All were associated with AIMIM for some time but some moved away from the party in 2018, the police said.

According to the police, the incident happened at Thatiguda area. Farooq became impatient during an altercation. He fired five rounds. Two youths collapsed after receiving one bullet each.

District superintendent of police Satyanarayana told local media that steps were being initiated for cancellation of the revolver’s license. An enquiry has been ordered.

While Zameer and Moteshan are undergoing treatment at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) at Adilabad, Mannan, who is seriously injured, has been shifted to Hyderabad for better treatment.

Farooq had served as deputy chairman of Adilabad municipality and is currently the president of the AIMIM Adilabad district unit.

A case under IPC sections 307 (attempt to murder), 324 (Causing grievous hurt), and section 27 and 30 of the Indian arms act has been booked against the accused. District superintendent of police Satyanarayana has stated that the steps were being initiated for the cancellation of the revolver’s license and an inquiry has been ordered into the matter.

A video of the incident has gone viral on social media platforms. The purported video shows that Farooq was holding a sword in one hand and a gun in the other.
