Rape is the fourth most common crime in India. The level of rape cases in the country is rising at an alarming rate. It is learnt that most of the rape cases were committed by someone known to the victim.
Earlier, the entire nation was shocked by the heinous rape and murder of the veterinary doctor in Hyderabad and after which, the 6-year-old girl was raped and strangled to death by her school belt in Rajasthan and then another shocking atrocity happened when a 9-year-old girl was raped and strangled to death.
Then a Hyderabad-like rape and murder incident took place at Kumarganj, South Dinajpur in West Bengal. Then again a 46-year-old Thailand woman was raped in Kerala by two men. It has been learnt that the Thai national visited India in order to meet her child in Kerala but she was raped. In Tamil Nadu, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her own father for over three months.
In shocking news, a 21-year-old youth allegedly raped and killed his own mother. The Shiggavi police located in Karnataka arrested the man for allegedly raping and murdering his mother at Vanahalli village in Karnataka’s Haveri district. The culprit identified as Shivappa has confessed to the crime during the interrogation session at the police custody.
The reason behind him committing the heinous rape and murder was because the wrongdoer was unhappy with the mother’s affairs. According to the police report, the murdered woman lost her husband last year. Later, she developed sexual relationships with her son Shivappa including few others. Shivappa was annoyed with the arrangement.
He also wanted her mother to be engaged with nobody else but him. Shivappa also asked her to cut relationship with other men. Later, he came to know that his mother continued the relationships with other men behind the scenes.
On November 13, the 21-year-old youth got intoxicated and made his mother drink alcohol. Soon after that, he asked her mother to go with him on the false excuse of going to a relative’s place. He stopped the car in an empty area where he raped and murdered his own mother. The accused has been booked under Section 302 (murder) and 367 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code.
