“Can they make Allah Bomb or Badmash Jesus films?”, Mukesh Khanna as filmmakers of Laxmi Bomb

Veteran actor Mukesh Khanna expressed his dismay about Akshay Kumar’s film Laxmi Bomb on social media. He raised objections to this film and its title. The actor claims that the title “demeans” the Hindu religion and their gods.

Ever since the trailer release, the movie has sparked outrage among social media users. While some have liked the trailer, there are many who have condemned this film in strong words.

The Akshay Kumar starrer movie includes the term “Laxmmi”, a name derived from Hindu Goddess Lakshmi. This did not go down well with some people who claim that the title demeans the Goddess and also objectifies her. Film director Raghava Lawrence received a lot of flak from people for hurting the sentiment of the Hindu community.

Among them was actor Mukesh Khanna, who took a dig at filmmakers for defaming the Hindu Goddess Lakshmi. Taking to Instagram, the actor shared Laxmmi Bomb’s first look poster and accompanied the same with a long caption questioning the makers why the film has been titled the way it is.

Mukesh Khanna has written a big note on his Instagram, sharing the poster of Akshay’s film. His caption on Instagram read, “Should a film be released with the title of Laxmi Bomb? If you ask me, the film is not justified. Because just saw the trailer, the film is yet to be done.” Mukesh Khanna further wrote, “So let’s talk about the title of the film. Adding bombs in front of Lakshmi seems like a prank. There seems to be a commercial advantage. Should it be allowed? Not! Can you name the movie Allah Bomb or Badass Jesus? Not, then how Lakshmi Bomb. Filthy people do this audacity because they know that there will be noise in it, people will shout then become silent. But the film will be promoted. The film has to be released. Hindus are not afraid of these people”.

In his caption, he also urged the ‘Janata’ or the public to call this out as he wrote, “Ye hota aaya hai…Hota rahega… Ise Rokna padhega! (transl. this is how things have been since time immemorial but now we need to stop it).

Mukesh Khanna, however, is not the only one who is against the title of the movie. Earlier this week, Hindu Sena threatened the makers that if they do not change the title, they will go and protest outside every cinema hall where the movie will be screened.

Following which, the producers of ‘Laxmmi Bomb’- Shabinaa Khan, Tusshar Kapoor and Akshay Kumar – decided to change the title of their film to ‘Laxmii’.
