Rebroadcasting of Ramayana to help people like Sonakshi Sinha: Mukesh Khanna trolls Sonakshi Sinha

Taking a dig at Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha, actor Mukesh Khanna said that it is good that both iconic mythological serial of the 80s Ramayan and Mahabharat are being re-telecast on Doordarshan (DD) amid the nationwide lockdown in wake of coronavirus pandemic. Those who have never seen Ramayan, can now see and gain knowledge as it has been rerun on Doordarshan after over three decades on the demand of people amid nationwide lockdown.

Mukesh Khanna played the iconic role of Bhisma Pitamah in BR Chopra’s 90s serial Mahabharat. “I think the reruns will be useful to many who haven’t watched the show earlier. It will also help people like Sonakshi Sinha who have no knowledge about our mythological sagas. People like her don’t know who did lord Hunuman get Sanjivani for. There is a video doing the rounds where few boys are asked whose Mama (uncle) was Kans and they got scared to answer. Some said Duryodhan, others said something else, so they are not aware of the mythology,” Mukesh told Times of India in an interview.

While everyone is seeing Ramayan across the country, Sonakshi Sinha has once again become a talking point, as her failure to answer a question from the epic text on Kaun Banega Crorepati had put herself in trouble.

The show will remind you of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) 11, where Sonakshi Sinha was asked a question. As she was unable to answer the question, she asked for a lifeline to answer and later was criticized by people on social media.

Here’s the question asked by KBC, “According to Ramayana, For whom did Hanuman bring Sanjeevani Booti? The options were Sugriv, Lakshman, Sita and Rama. She did not know the answer, which was Lakshman, and had taken a lifeline”.

In the episode, even Amitabh Bachchan was shocked when Sonakshi could not answer and requested her mom Poonam to not show the episode to her father.

Surprisingly, Sonakshi’s father’s name is Shatrughan Sinha, her brothers’ names are Luv and Kush and her uncles’ names are Lakshman, Bharat and Ram. Even the bungalow she lives in is named Ramayana.

Sonakshi then replied, “Mujhe laga tha, lekin mai inke liye bahut nervous thi to chance nahi lena chahti thi (I thought it should be Lakshman but did not want to take any chance).”
