Former Maharashtra CM comes in full support of Kangana, attacks Shiv Sena of its “terror act”

In a shocking incident, BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) demolished Kangana Ranaut’s bungalow in Bandra on September 9. Following which a war of words ensued between the Shiv Sena and the Bollywood actress who is known for her roles in movies like Fashion and Queen.

Bollywood queen Kangana Ranaut landed in Mumbai from her home state Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday, amid protests by Shiv Sena workers at the airport. The actress Kangana lashed out at Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray for demolishing her house. She also shared a video stating that she now understands how Kashmiri Pandits felt after property was vandalised.

Meanwhile, Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has come in support of the actress. Fadnavis attacked Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government for demolishing Kangana’s property. Fadnavis termed the development “vendetta politics” and a kind of “government-sponsored terror” in the state.

Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly Devendra Fadnavis called the actions ‘an act of cowardice’ by the Maharashtra government run by a Shiv Sena-led alliance. Fadnavis said the state of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has not seen such a “timid and anti-democracy” government till now. He accused the state government of stifling voices of those holding a different view.

“The way a remark (Pakistan occupied Kashmir) which insults Maharashtra or Mumbai Police cannot be defended, similarly the government’s such action (demolition) too cannot be defended. Maharashtra is being defamed due to such actions in the country,” Fadnavis said in a video message.

He said the razed structure stood at the spot for quite some time, but no action was taken earlier.

“The action was taken only after the actress made the remarks,” the former chief minister said. He further asked why the Sena-controlled BMC is not taking action against other illegal structures in the city.

“Such action taken out of the sentiment of revenge does not suit Maharashtra and its rulers. In a way, there is a government-sponsored terror in Maharashtra,” Fadnavis charged.

Later, BMC faced flak for demolishing Kangana Ranaut’s bungalow. BJP MLA Ashish Shelar said the Uddhav Thackeray-led government in Maharashtra is playing vendetta politics.

Kangana said the civic body should focus on the shoddy state of roads instead of targeting her bungalow.

“BMC, these are mumbai road and all you are concerned about is DEMOLITION of an actress house who is exposing mafia. KUDOS to you..!! #DeathOfDemocracy,” Kangana tweeted.
