10 Preys who defended themselves and taught the ‘big cats’ a lesson

History says that animals have long been terribly affected by human activities. So many animals have died due to humans for various reasons and one literally needs more than a book to explain the sins caused by humans to animals.

There has always been a serious conflict between humans and animals. Animals are voiceless creatures and all they want is a peaceful life but these humans have destroyed habitats of animals leading to extinction.

At one end, man is reaping benefits with the technology, natural resources– and at the other end- he is destroying the environment and other life forms which is truly not acceptable at all.

Case in point, it is quite normal for humanbeings or even to animals to escape or fight when they are in danger. Self-defence is important for survival. At that point of time, creatures get adrenaline rush and thus giving the creatures extraordinary capability to fight well or escape from danger.

In this article, we will take a look at 10 Preys which can defend themselves from predators. Warthog, Zebra, Giraffe, Buffalo, Gazelle, Elephant, Porcupine, Wildebeest, Rhinoceros and Hippopotamus are the top ten animals that can protect or defend themselves from predators.

It is cognisance of the fact that all animals need food to live. Food is the substance which provides energy and materials for maintaining normal metabolism and for a living organism. Before moving to the video, let’s learn what is the difference between ‘Prey’ and a ‘Predator’.

The prey refers to an animal that is trapped, captured and eaten by a predator. On the contrary, predator is an animal that hunts down and kills animals for food. This process is called predation.

Mice and lizards which are termed as smaller predators are often termed as ‘prey’ for larger predators. It should be noted that prey animals need to be consumed by predators in a bid to maintain a balanced and healthy ecosystem.

Predator animals only require the flesh of the animals that they kill to survive. Examples of predators include the likes of Weasels, hawks, wolves, mountain lions, and grizzly bears.

Predators are termed as carnivores and their diet consists of only meat. Other predators like Coyotes and bears are also scavengers that will eat the dead bodies of animals that they didn’t hunt themselves in the first place.
