Team India last won the ICC title back in 2013. Since then, they failed to make a bid for the ICC title. The Men in Blue led by Rohit Sharma lost to Australia in the ICC World Test Championship final.
It has been a decade since India last won the ICC trophy. Meanwhile, during an interview with The Week, the 1983 World Cup-winning captain stated that arrogance started to spread among the current Indian cricketers.
Kapil Dev reckons that the current Indian cricketers think they know everything. He further stressed the fact that when there is too much money, then it is when arrogance comes.
“Sometimes, when too much money comes, arrogance comes. These cricketers, they feel they know everything,” Kapil Dev stated.
Kapil Dev’s remarks started doing the rounds on the internet. Recently, India’s all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was asked to comment on Kapil Dev’s remarks on Team India, stating that there is a bit of arrogance in the Indian cricket team.
“I don’t know when he said this. I don’t search for these things on social media. See everyone has their own opinion. Ex-player have full right to share his opinion, but I don’t think there is not any arrogance in this team,” Ravindra Jadeja told reporters.
“Everyone is enjoying their cricket and everyone are hardworking. No one has taken anything for granted. They are giving their 100 per cent. Such comments generally come when the Indian team lost a match. This is a good bunch of boys, this is a good group. We are representing India and that is our main aim, there is no personal agenda,” Jadeja clarified.
Meanwhile, Team India are currently in the West Indies playing the T20I series. Earlier, India won the Test series by 1-0 before clinching the ODI series by 2-1. The action shifted to the T20I series.
West Indies have taken a 1-0 lead in the series by beating India by 4 wickets before defeating Team India by 2 wickets in the second T20I. They are just a win away from sealing the five-match T20I series.
