“I am against police encounter”, says Owaisi after Telangana cops shoot rapists of Hyderabad victim

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen(AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi has told media that he is personally against all types of encounters. His statement came after the four accused in Hyderabad veterinarian’s rape and murder case were killed on Friday morning.

“I am personally against this kind of ‘encounter’. In today’s ‘encounter’ a magisterial enquiry has been ordered. The fact remains that the encounter took place in police custody. I am against encounters,” said Owaisi.

He went on to say, “The MPs demanding immediate justice got what they were asking for. Due process was followed in Ajmal Kasab’s case, why not in this?” ,”

While the nation is appreciating encounter, Owaisi is protesting against encounter after all accused have been killed. He did not speak against rape accused after the victim was brutally raped and murdered. According to reports, all four accused have been killed in an exchange of fire with police on Friday morning when they (accused) hit out at police with stones and snatched weapons.

On the other hand, BSP Chief Mayawati has praised the Hyderabad police for its “strong action” against the four accused in the Hyderabad rape-murder case. She also asked the Delhi and UP cops to learn from their Hyderabad counterparts.

“We had to fire in retaliation after the accused started hitting us with stones and sharp objects and snatched our weapons,” he said. “The law has done its duty. That’s all I can say,” the officer said to doubts raised on police claims.

The incident took place around 6.30 am when the accused were taken to the site of offence for the reconstruction of the scene of the crime as part of the investigation, a senior police official was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

The four accused were killed on NH-44 near Hyderabad — the same place where rapists raped and burnt down the victim’s body.
