Story of 9-yr-old boy- who is set to become the world’s youngest graduate with a degree in Electrical Engineering

Some students, these days, never cease to amaze us with their capabilities. The aspiring minds set the sky as the limit. They go about their business constantly come what may. This is why only very few are coming through with flying colours.

Everyone in today’s world would expect that a typical 9-year-old boy is preoccupied with his own routine like academics and sports. At a time, when students of his age are studying Class 5, Laurent Simons is all set to become the youngest person to finish a graduation course. Yes, you read it right!

Being a half Belgian and half Dutch, the little genius, he has well and truly completed his degree in electrical engineering in December from Eindhoven University of Technology (TUE). As per a report by The Telegraph, Laurent has an IQ of at least 145. The child prodigy has managed to finish his high school studies at just a young age of eight in just 18 months.

As per the reports, he even became the youngest-ever university student when he joined the graduation course previously this year.

In a recent interview to CNN, Laurent’s father named Alexander Simons had disclosed that the nine-year-old plans to get enrolled for an advanced PhD program in electrical engineering. In addition to that, he wants to pursue a degree in medicine.

He also went on to reveal that many prestigious universities around the world want to enroll Laurent Simons for his true potential. They told CNN, “We don’t want him to get too serious. He does whatever he likes. We need to find a balance between being a child and his talents.”

The Education Director of electrical engineering at TUE, Sjoerd Hulshof added in a statement “Laurent is the fastest student we have ever had here. Not only is he hyper-intelligent but also a very sympathetic boy.”

Laurent’s mother, Lydia told CNN that it was his grandparents who had first spotted that he was extra special. “They noticed something very special about Laurent,” she said.

With this extraordinary achievement, Laurent Simons can pride in the fact of taking the title of World’s Youngest Graduate from Michael Kearney next month when he graduates. It should be noted that Michael had graduated from the University of Alabana when he was 10 years old.
