Bajrang Punia becomes world number one wrestler in 65 kg category, nobody praised him

India’s wrestling champion Bajrang Punia hogged the limelight as he became the world number one wrestler in the 65 kg category. Let’s take a moment to praise the 24-year-old champion Bajrang Punia for his massive achievement. Bajrang Punia who has won five medals this year already is dominating the rankings with 96 points in the United World Wrestling list.

Talking about his achievements, this year, wrestling champion has already bagged a gold medal in the Commonwealth Games, a gold medal in the Asian Games followed by a silver medal at the World Championship.

Bajrang Punia is happy with the ranking as his performances reflect the nation’s overall growth in the field of wrestling. However, the champion has set high standards for himself and stressed that his dream is to become the Olympic champion.

“I am happy about the ranking because it reflects India’s overall growth in wrestling. The real celebration time for me will come when I become the Olympic champion,” said Punia, according to The Hindu.

Interestingly, Bajrang Punia is the only male Indian wrestler to feature in the top 10 list.
