Akhtar also expressed concern over the increasing intolerance in the society. He underlined that although there have always been some intolerant individuals, Hindus as a community are generally seen as having wonderful qualities of being altruistic and open-hearted. He stressed the importance of maintaining this quality and not adopting the intolerance displayed by others. Furthermore, he stressed that Indians have learned from the Hindu way of life and no one can abandon it.
