Meet Gangaram- 72yr old man taking care of traffic for 32 years without salary

You must have seen many people who appear to be stealing in their work and pick up a free salary. But today we are going to tell you about a person who has been manning traffic in the Seelampur area of New Delhi for over three decades.

Yes, you read it right. Gangaram, who has been working to get traffic cleared for the last 32 years but he has never taken money for this.

The 72-years-old man was officially appointed as a traffic sentinel by the Delhi Traffic Police in 2018 but he has been doing his service for several years. Even during the Coronavirus pandemic, he continued to work without money.

Gangaram’s son met with a road accident five years ago and sadly, he passed away. After a few days, Ganga Ram’s wife also died. After his son’s death, Gangaram decided to work for the benefit of the people on the traffic signal. So that someone else’s child does not become a victim of a road accident. Since then he has been manning traffic for no salary or rewards.

On being asked about his daily routine, Ganga Ram said that he used to work from 9 am to 10 pm. “I have been managing the movement of traffic for the past 30 years. But after my son’s death, I come here and man traffic for at least eight to 10 hours a day,” he said.

In addition to manning traffic, Ganga Ram also owns an electronic shop. But managing traffic takes up most of the time. In recognition of his service, the Delhi Police has awarded him with several awards and medals. They have also provided him with a mobile phone.
