Woman scares off rapist by pretending to cough and telling him she was from Wuhan

Even as China is finding it tough to bring the widespread infectious disease under control, several countries across the world are reporting cases of coronavirus. It has been learnt that Hong Kong reported its first death due to coronavirus and India confirmed its third case in Kerala.

As per the reports, Coronavirus claimed hundreds of lives in China alone and 20,000 people were infected. People are losing their loved ones to the deadly disease which originated in Wuhan, China.

Recently, a woman in China scared away a would-be rapist during the coronavirus outbreak by pretending to cough and telling the would-be sex offender that she was from Wuhan. ‘I just returned from Wuhan and have been infected, therefore I am home alone in self-quarantine.’

The suspect identified as 25-year-old Xiao, broke into the victim’s bedroom last Friday night in Jingshan (three-hour drive from Wuhan), as per police.

Yi called the police right away and then she pretended to cough while trying to push away the offender, who was trying to squeeze her neck and cover her mouth.

But after hearing Yi saying that she was from Wuhan, the culprit was frightened and immediately fled before robbing Yi of 3,080 yuan (£338) in cash.

The incident happened in the township of Pingba on the outskirts of Jingshan. The incident was revealed by Jingshan Public Security Bureau in a social media post.

The accused admitted his guilt and is now in official custody.
