From Mayor To IAS Officers, This Wonder Women Team Runs Thrissur Admin In Kerala

They say that Women run in the world and this statement is being followed quite literally in one of the largest cities in Kerala named Thrissur.

Thrissur is culturally known as the city of ‘Lord Siva’ and apart from its heritage, it is now known for its distinct administration that is run by a strong ‘all women’ team.

Headed by the District Collector T V Anupama, the entire administration comprises of women. Starting all the way from the Deputy District Collector to the Mayor and Deputy mayor, including the District Panchayat President and the Director of Kerala Police Academy, all of these positions are handled by women.

Here’s all you need to know about this ‘Wonder Women’ team:

1) TV Anupama, IAS officer

She finished her schooling from the city’s St Claire’s Convent Higher Secondary School and is an IAS officer from the 2009 batch. She became a household name in Kerala after her involvement in the river encroachment case in Alappuzha.

2) Dr Renu Raj, IAS

Dr Renu is deputy to Collector T V Anupama and had taken everyone by a surprise by holding the second rank in the UPSC examinations in 2014. She also happens to be a trained classical dancer and performs with immense brilliance during youth festivals in the state.

3) Dr B Sandhya, IPS

Dr Sandhya is a PhD scholar from BITS Pilani and is currently the Director of Kerala Police Academy, with headquarters located at Ramavarmapuram in Thrissur. She is also a published author who has written novels, books for children and also research papers on Police science.

4) Ajitha Jayrajan, Mayor

Mayor Ajitha is the one who runs the city’s corporation and has been a social worker for the past 33 years. She originally hails from Moothakunnam in Ernakulam and is the second woman mayor of Thrissur who settled here after she got married.

Not just these four amazing women, the District Panchayat President Mary Thomas and Deputy Mayor Beena Murali also hold top posts in Thrissur.

We salute the spirit shown by these women and urge the youth of the nation to consider them as their role models! These women prove that there is no substitute for hard work and nothing is impossible to achieve.
