Shocking: IIT JEE Topper rejects to study in IIT institute, here is the reason

To achieve their dreams of earning a Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) degree, many students compete for admission to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). However, as predicted, the JEE Advanced exam topper opted to enroll in a different college rather than submit an application for admission to an IIT. Let’s determine which college this is.

Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are renowned for their engineering education, often preparing students for the JEE. However, R.K. Shishir, the top JEE Advanced student, chose to enroll in a college instead of an IIT, causing shock among the public.

It should be mentioned that Shishir received admission to the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) after topping the JEE Advanced. He made the decision to pursue a B. Tech in Mathematics and Computing there. IISc, one of India’s top universities, ranked in second place overall in the NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) category in 2023, barely behind IIT Madras. Additionally, it is ranked top among all universities in the nation.

Shishir stated that he wanted to pursue a career in research when asked why he chose IISc over an IIT. He claims that the IITs’ B. Tech course is more career-focused, whereas he preferred to pursue a course that focused on research. His long-term goals include earning a postgraduate degree from an international institution. IISc, therefore, seemed to be a preferable option for him.

Although the IITs continue to hold great appeal, Shishir’s unconventional choice serves as a reminder that other institutions can provide excellent opportunities for aspiring engineers. It emphasizes the significance of taking a person’s aspirations and career objectives into account when choosing an educational path.

As the JEE Advanced winner plots a distinctive path for his academic career, it inspires both students and parents to look beyond conventional options and investigate the wide range of institutions available. The ultimate objective in the constantly changing world of engineering is to find the ideal fit that fits one’s passion and aspirations.
