Previously, the youngest ever doctor in UK was only 17 days oder to Arpan Doshi and the latter beats the record as he starts working there. When asked about his record, Arpan told The Sun, “I didn’t realise I was the youngest person to qualify until a friend checked on the internet. I haven t even told my parents yet but I know they will be very proud.”

Arpan Doshi studied in a local school situated in Gandhinagar in Gujarat till he was 13 years old. His family including him moved to France as his father, Bharat (mechanical engineer by profession) got to work with Aix en Provence as a part of an international fusion project.

He then did his schooling at an English speaking international school. He is well versed in English, Hindi and Gujarati. The bright boy skipped a year there in the country realising that he already knew what was actually being taught there.

After he turned 17, he started applying to universities and experienced many rejections. Eventually, he got three offers from universities. The University of Sheffield was highly impressed by the young talent that they offered him with a scholarship of 13,000 pounds.

Arpan also got financial assistance from parents, but he did a part-time job as a lunch supervisor at a local school and in the careers service to manage his degee.

“My dream is to become a heart surgeon but it is a very competitive field. It is not really a surprise I have ended up as a doctor,” said Doshi.

Previously, the doctor who held the record of youngest doctor in UK was Racjal Faye Hill who received her medical degree from Manchester University at 21 years and 352 days in 2010.

Arpan Doshi has finally broken the record as he did his two year training as a junior doctor at York Teaching Hospital in August.
