Sushant Singh’s death by suicide reminds us of Telugu actor Uday Kiran’s tragic demise

Bollywood emerging actor Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide on June 14 (Sunday). His unexpected demise left everyone in shock, including his co-actress and ex-girlfriend Ankita Lokhande. The 34-year-old actor ended his life by hanging himself to the ceiling fan at his residence in Mumbai.

Sushant Singh’s demise by suicide reminds us of sad memories of late Telugu actor Uday Kiran, who killed himself on 5 January 2014. He died at 33, much like Sushant.

People on Twitter were shocked by Sushant’s tragic demise and are remembering the late talented Uday Kiran who primarily worked in the Tollywood industry. Both were young when they died.

Both were from middle-class families, both were good at studies, both didn’t have any family in the film industry. Both were reported to go through depression for a long time.

Uday Kiran was a Filmfare Award winning Indian film actor. His first three films, Chitram, Nuvvu Nenu and Manasantha Nuvve, were successful hits and this earning him the title “Hat-trick Hero”. It was when he rose to stardom.

2 years later, in the year 2003, Uday Kiran received a massive surprise when his childhood idol, Megastar Chiranjeevi, offered his daughter Sushmitha in marriage.

It was also learnt that Uday Kiran would soon become a bigger star with help and support of Chiru and other big personalities. Later, much to everyone’s shock, the engagement was broken.

Till today, it still remains a mystery as to why the wedding was called off.

In the year 2017, the late actor’s sister, in an interview said that Chiranjeevi was always sweet towards her brother. “Chiranjeevi garu was a huge emotional support during this phase. He advised my brother to focus on his career.

It was Chiranjeevi garu who first proposed that Uday marry his daughter. But Uday discovered that his likes and dislikes were not compatible with that of Sushmita. It was his call to call off the marriage,” she was quoted as saying by

Unfortunately for Telugu actor Uday Kiran, the biggest setback in his performing in the year 2003 was only a beginning. His professional life started tumbling right after this and what’s more heartbreaking for him was that he could never make a strong comeback despite movi offers approached him.

Uday Kiran got hitched to Vishitha in 2012. Two years later, he committed suicide at his residence.
