During one such session recently on X (formerly Twitter), the actress found herself at the center of a political query that sparked plenty of discussion.

Preity Zinta clears the air on BJP rumours

The conversation unfolded during her casual #PZChat, where she encouraged followers to ask her anything. In light of her recent posts celebrating Indian culture and tradition, a fan directly asked:

“Are you gonna join BJP in the near future? Your tweets in the last few months seem like so…#pzchat.”

Preity responded with honesty and grace, immediately clarifying that she has no political aspirations.

Here’s what she said:

“That’s the problem with people on social media, everybody has become so judgmental off late. As I said earlier, going to a temple / Maha Kumbh and being proud of who I am & my identity does not equate with me joining politics or for that reason BJP. Living outside India has made me realise the true value of my home country & like everyone else, I do appreciate India & all things Indian much more now.”

Her reply quickly went viral, with fans applauding her for speaking from the heart and staying grounded.

When the fan who asked the question clarified that it wasn’t meant to be judgmental, Preity gave an even more personal response that struck a chord with many:

“I’m sorry if I sounded abrupt! I have PTSD from this question. Appreciate your clarification. After becoming a mom & living in a foreign country, I wanna make sure my kids don’t forget they are half Indian. Since my husband is agnostic, we are bringing up our kids as Hindus. Sadly, I am facing constant criticism, and this simple joy is being taken away by my choice being politicized all the time. I feel I need to keep answering for being who I am or having pride in teaching my kids about their roots & religion.”

Fans praise Preity’s honesty and elegance

Many users flooded her replies with words of support and admiration. One follower wrote:

“That’s why PZ is my favorite actress from my childhood—be it acting or real life, you are the gem.”

Another said:

“So much respect for how you’re handling this with grace. Keep shining and stay proud.”

Through this heartfelt exchange, Preity Zinta showed once again why she’s loved not just for her films, but also for her authenticity.
