Indian Delegate Kanimozhi Silences Reporter In Spain When Asked, ‘What’s India’s National Language?’

Earlier, there were no major quarrels about language in India. People spoke different languages but lived in harmony. However, in recent times, language debates often spark arguments among people across the country.

Against this backdrop, DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi’s calm and powerful reply to a reporter’s tricky question in Spain is now winning hearts.

The moment that won applause

As part of India’s global outreach after Operation Sindoor, an all-party delegation is visiting different countries to build stronger diplomatic ties. One such delegation, led by Kanimozhi, recently visited Spain.

During the visit, a reporter asked a sensitive question — “What is India’s national language?”

Without hesitation, Kanimozhi replied:

“The national language of India is unity in diversity.”

Her simple, clear answer drew loud applause from the audience. It reminded everyone of India’s true strength — its diversity of languages, cultures, and traditions, all coming together as one nation.

India stands for peace, not war

Kanimozhi also addressed another important topic — the perception of India in the global arena, especially around issues like terrorism.

Speaking to the audience, she said that India is a country of peace and that people abroad, especially the Indian diaspora, should help spread this message.

“So much has to be done in our country, and we want to do that. Unfortunately, we are being diverted,” she said, referring to how unnecessary conflicts take away focus from India’s progress.

She also highlighted that India’s foundation is based on Ahimsa (non-violence) — the same principle that guided our freedom movement.

“The world does not need a war,” she added, underlining India’s stand for peace.

A strong message on Kashmir

Kanimozhi further reassured the audience that India remains a safe country and that no one will succeed in destabilizing it, especially regions like Kashmir.

“They may try whatever they want, they cannot derail us. We will ensure that India and Kashmir remain a safe place.”

In today’s times, when debates on language, religion, and identity sometimes divide people, Kanimozhi’s message was a refreshing reminder of India’s true spirit — unity in diversity, peace, and resilience.
