India’s five biggest moves against Pakistan after the Pahalgam incident

Recently, the tragic terrorist incident in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, shook the whole country. Many innocent people lost their lives in this attack, and Pakistan-backed terrorists were behind it. After this incident, India has often taken the biggest steps against Pakistan. Let us know about the five biggest moves taken by India against Pakistan:

Suspension of the Indus Water Treaty

The Indus Waters Treaty is a historic water agreement between India and Pakistan, which was signed by both countries in 1960 under the mediation of the World Bank. On April 23, India suspended the Indus Water Treaty related to major water sharing with Pakistan to give a strong message against terrorism.

Expulsion of Military Advisers & Diplomatic Staff Reduction

Within 24 hours of the Pahalgam attack, India expelled Pakistani military advisors from New Delhi. India not only expelled Pakistani officials but also recalled its military and strategic advisors posted in Islamabad. The Indian High Commission also reduced its staff to limit diplomatic contact.

Visa Cancellations & Travel Ban

The Indian government cancelled all valid visas issued to Pakistani nationals from 27 April. All Pakistani nationals currently in India were ordered to leave India before the expiry of revised visa periods. A complete travel ban under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme was imposed to prevent potential threats.

Closure of Attari Wagha Border crossing

On 1 May, India completely closed the Attari-Wagah land border as a firm diplomatic and strategic response. This border route was the main overland trade and travel hub between India and Pakistan. The move severed direct contact between the two countries, severely impacting trade, civilian movement, and cultural exchange.

Launch of Operation Sindoor

India launched “Operation Sindoor” after the Pahalgam attack, taking a decisive stand against terrorism. Under this operation, precise air strikes were carried out on several terrorist camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

The terrorist attack in Pahalgam was an attack on India’s internal security, which is now being answered not just with words but with concrete action. Be it “Operation Sindoor” or closing the Attari-Wagah border, every step taken by India shows that now there will be no leniency in the fight against terrorism.
