Operation Sindoor, the Indian Army’s powerful response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, has been widely appreciated across the country. From political leaders to film stars and sportspersons, many have praised the courage of the armed forces.
Joining the voices of support is former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan, who recently posted a message on social media, showing his respect for the Indian Army and celebrating the unity of the country.

Dhawan, known for his patriotic sentiments, praised the role of Indian Muslims in serving the nation, alongside mentioning Colonel Sofia Qureshi, one of the key officers who briefed the country about the operation. His message was aimed at highlighting India’s strength in diversity.

Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Dhawan wrote,
“The spirit of India lies in its unity. Hats off to heroes like Colonel Sofia Qureshi and to the countless Indian Muslims who’ve bravely fought for the nation and showed what we stand for. Jai Hind!”
While many applauded the cricketer for recognizing the efforts of soldiers across communities, the tweet also sparked mixed reactions. Some felt the post celebrated unity in a meaningful way, while others believed it unnecessarily singled out one religious group.
A user responded, “Were Hindus not fighting for the nation? Your tweet does not foster unity.”
Another wrote, “No person in the right mind questions a patriotic Muslim’s love for the country. But highlighting them separately gives the wrong impression.”
Colonel Sofia Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh have received national attention after they, along with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, provided updates on Operation Sindoor. These women officers became symbols of bravery and leadership, earning admiration across the country.
Some users defended Dhawan’s intention, suggesting that his tweet was an honest attempt to promote inclusiveness.
“Once in uniform, religion becomes secondary. Uniform binds all together – that’s the true spirit of our armed forces,” one user wrote.
Another added, “Sofia Qureshi represents the common Indian woman – brave and selfless, beyond religion or region.”
Despite the online debate, Shikhar Dhawan’s message reflects what many believe India stands for – unity in diversity, and the shared pride in the nation’s heroes, no matter their background.
