Blinkit replies after Customer receives Mouldy Expired Bread, read details

It is a frustrating experience no customer expects, especially when using a service built on convenience. Recently, a Mumbai resident, Saptakee Sengupta, faced this exact disappointment when she received a loaf of expired and visibly moldy bread from Blinkit, a platform known for its quick deliveries.

In her own words, the moment was more than just unpleasant. Imagine expecting fresh bread for your morning toast, only to find greenish mold patches and an expired “use by” date staring back at you. It’s enough to make anyone question whether speed is coming at the cost of safety and quality.

The bread Saptakee received was marked with a ‘use by’ date of May 2, 2025, yet it was delivered on May 4, 2025 — two days past expiration. She didn’t stay silent. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Saptakee posted images of the mold-covered bread and its packaging, tagging Blinkit and relevant authorities, and demanding answers.

“@letsblinkit what’s happening? Sending mouldy expired bread order no 3316680. @blinkitcares #foodministerindia @mybmc”

The visuals were enough to stir concern, showing just how easily quality control can slip through the cracks, especially in services that prioritize ultra-fast deliveries.

How did Blinkit respond?

To their credit, Blinkit replied swiftly, acknowledging the complaint publicly on X and offering assistance. Their official response read:

“We appreciate your time & would be happy to assist you with the concern raised. Could you please provide us with the information we requested previously?”

While the gesture of a quick reply matters, many users online echoed a deeper worry: what if this had gone unnoticed? Food safety isn’t just a minor error; it’s a serious issue. For busy consumers relying on Blinkit for daily essentials, incidents like this chip away at trust.

This is not an isolated complaint either. Across social media, customers have flagged issues like poor packaging, stale items, and even wrong deliveries. When convenience becomes the priority, quality sometimes gets left behind and that is a trade-off consumers are not willing to accept!
