Captain Rohit Sharma replies to reporters on being asked about BCCI’s restrictions on India players’ family travel including wives

Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma recently gave a humorous yet sharp response to rumors about the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) banning players’ wives and families from overseas tours.

During a press conference, he asked reporters about their source and advised them to wait for an official announcement.

Rohit, known for his calm demeanor and quick wit, responded with a question of his own: “Who told you about the rules? Has it come from the official handle of BCCI? Let it come officially.”

His lighthearted reply brought some laughter to the room while also making it clear that he wasn’t ready to comment on unconfirmed reports.

The controversy arose after reports suggested that BCCI has implemented stricter guidelines to maintain discipline within the team. According to these reports, the players would travel together, and separate travel arrangements for individuals would no longer be allowed.

Furthermore, families and wives of the players would not accompany them from the start of overseas tours. Instead, they would only be allowed to join the players for two weeks during a 45-day tour.

While the BCCI hasn’t issued an official statement on this matter yet, these reports have sparked widespread discussion among fans and cricket experts alike.

Amid the buzz, India’s squads for the Champions Trophy 2025 and the ODI series against England have been revealed. The only difference between the two squads is the inclusion of Harshit Rana as a backup for Jasprit Bumrah in the ODI series. This move indicates that Bumrah may not be fully fit for the first two matches.
