Shibli Sadiq was kidnapped by his friends and they killed him and ate his flesh. This incident is from Bandarban, Bangladesh. Shibli’s father is a truck driver and his family’s financial condition is poor, Shibli starts working as a manager on a farm, where he makes some friends who work in the same farm.
Shibli made good friends, after which his friends started slacking off in their work. Shibli started taking strict action against everyone, after which everyone got jealous of Shibli and a serious argument started. The owner of the farm solved the matter, everything was fine for a few days, but after a few days, everyone decided to take revenge on Shibli.
To take revenge, Shibli’s friends kidnap him and ask for money from Shibli’s family to release him. Somehow Shibli’s poor dad collects that much money and gives it to the kidnappers. When they paid the ransom, they were assured that Hridoy would return by morning, but he did not. When there was no trace of Shibli, they informed the police.
The Bangladesh Police interrogated six suspects accused of committing the crime by Shibli’s mother Nahid Akhtar, four of whom later confessed. One of the accused, Umongching Marma, showed the area where Hridoy was killed. Police officials searched the area but found only fragments of Shibli’s bones and his skull. The suspects were named Umongching Marma, Suichingmung Marma, Angthuimung Marma, and Ukyathwai Marma, all of whom worked with Shibli at the poultry farm.
According to police investigations, Umongching Marma killed Shibli a day after the kidnapping, before he could contact his parents. Then his body was completely dismembered, flesh was separated from the bones and scattered across the forest, to “eradicate all traces” of the crime. Some reports also claimed that Shibli’s kidnappers cooked and ate his flesh.
This heartbreaking story of Shibli Hriday is a warning not only for Bangladesh but the whole world that we need to be cautious about the increasing cruelty and violence in society.
