Rohit Sharma sustains thumb injury during training session ahead of WTC final

The ICC World Test Championship final between India and Australia is less than a day away from getting underway. The highly-anticipated encounter will kick off at The Kennington Oval in London.

India reached the second consecutive WTC final whereas Australia reached the first WTC final in their journey. In the first edition, India lost to New Zealand in the finals of the World Test Championship.

It will be quite interesting to see how Rohit Sharma and Co will go on to make a telling impact in the forthcoming WTC final against the Aussies. However, it won’t be an easy challenge as both teams will look to give it all in the contest.

Case in point, Indian captain Rohit Sharma suffered an injury scare a day ahead of the start of the World Test Championship final versus Australia at The Oval. The Indian captain was struck on his thumb during the net session.

He quickly left the net session thereafter as a precautionary measure. The incident happened during the optional net session for the Indian team at the Kennington Oval on Tuesday when Rohit got struck on the left thumb while taking a throwdown.

It seems to be only a minor injury because Rohit Sharma, later attended the press conference as well. “Test cricket is the ultimate format, the most challenging format and it will mean everything for us to win it,” Rohit Sharma said in the pre-match press conference. “I want to take this Indian team forward and win 1-2 ICC titles.”
