Rohit Sharma’s wife posts Emotional message after her husband batted with injured thumb

Indian captain Rohit Sharma hogged the limelight after he showed incredible bravery by coming out to bat at No.9 during the second ODI match against the Bangladesh national cricket team in Dhaka recently.

The 35-year-old injured his thumb while taking a catch at the slip during the second over. Unfortunately, he dropped the catch and ended up getting injured in the follow through. He immediately left the field and then went to the hospital in Mirpur.

Rohit Sharma took a few injections and got his injured thumb stitched before he arrived to the stadium. During India’s run-chase, they lost too many wickets but Rohit Sharma’s courageous act won the hearts of the fans in the cricket fraternity.

Despite his injured thumb, he still walked out to bat for the country. He scored a quickfire half-century off just 27 balls where he slammed three boundaries and five sixes to his name. Despite his stupendous efforts, India lost the game by a close margin of 5 runs.

Bangladesh won the second ODI and clinched the three-match ODI series by 2-0. The third and final game is slated to be played on December 10 (Saturday) in Chattogram.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma’s wife Ritika posted an emotional tweet after her hubby Rohit Sharma batted with an injured thumb during the second ODI.

“I love you, and I’m so proud of the man you are. To go out like that and do that.” – Rohit Sharma’s wife Ritika Sajdeh posted on her Instagram story.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma opened up on his thumb injury at the post-match presentation. “It (thumb injury) isn’t too great. Some dislocation and some stitches. Fortunately, not a fracture, so I was able to bat,” he said.

“From being 69/6, allowing them to get to 270-odd wasn’t a great effort from our bowlers. Not taking anything away from Mehidy and Mahmudullah; (it) was a great partnership, but we also need to find ways of breaking such partnerships,” Rohit Sharma added.

“We are struggling with a few injuries as well. Not ideal. Kuldeep, Deepak and Rohit will certainly miss the next game. Rohit will miss the next game, fly back to Bombay, consulting with an expert. Whether he will return for the Test series or not, I am not sure. It’s too early to say,” added Rohit.
