In a sharp response to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s latest remarks on community-based population imbalance, AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi echoed that the Muslim fertility rate is on decline.
At the same time, he added that Indian Muslims use condoms the most. “The gap between two children is called spacing. Muslims are maintaining this space as they are the ones using condoms the most. If Hindus and Muslims have the same DNA, then where’s the imbalance? There’s no need for population control as we’ve already achieved replacement rate,” he echoed while addressing a public meeting here late Saturday.
Later taking to Twitter, Owaisi sought to remind people that the BJP-led Union government had submitted an affidavit to the Supreme Court in 2020 stating it cannot enforce family planning.
“The RSS chief is trying to scare Hindus by saying the population of Muslims is increasing, while in fact, it’s on the decline,” he tweeted.
Meanwhile, Owaisi also chipped in with the statistics while repeating the fact that it was government data. Owaisi said, “There were 90 lakh female foeticides among Hindus between 2000 and 2019. For every 1,000 males born Muslim, 943 are females. For 1,000 males born Hindu, 913 are girls.
“The population of those in 60+ age-group will go up to 20 crore by 2031 and 40 crore by 2061. These senior citizens will depend on their children for food, medicines and other needs. But the Modi government is not giving jobs nor talking about support for the elderly. Remember the data,” he said.
“Bhagwat will not speak on these issues, but harp on the concept of Hindu Rashtra. And BJP and RSS will continue to project Muslims as terrorists, cow-slaughterers and anti-national,” he said. “In a nation of 133 crore, where 30 crore Muslims exist, the dignity of a Muslim is worse than a street dog. Is this Indian democracy and Indian secularism? Is it the rule of law? If this is how punishments are meted out, then shut down courts and wind up police force,” he added.
