Shahid Afridi’s daughter became the talking point after she waved the Indian flag during the game between India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2022 match at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. Both teams locked horns with each other in the group stage and in the Super 4 stage.
India got the better of Pakistan in the first meeting in the group as they beat Pakistan by 5 wickets. On the other hand, Babar Azam and Co made a sensational comeback in the Super 4 stage as they got the better of India by 5 wickets in Dubai.
Meanwhile, Pakistan legend Shahid Afridi did confirm that his daughter waved the Indian flag on September 4 during the Super 4 stage match in Dubai. Pakistan fans were not at all happy as they expressed their shock on social media.
Speaking on Samaa TV, former Pakistan skipper explained the reason behind his daughter waving the Indian flag during the game against Pakistan. The incident did surprise both the Indian and Pakistan cricket fraternity.
Talking about the same, former Pakistan all-rounder had revealed that there was a shortage of Pakistan flags at that venue. As a result, his daughter had to wave India’s flag during the game.
“My wife told me that there were barely 10% Pakistani fans in the stadium and the rest were Indian fans. Pakistani flags were not available there so my younger daughter was waving the Indian flag. I received the video, but I was unsure about whether to share it online or not,” he said.

Talking about the Asia Cup 2022 final, Sri Lanka faced Pakistan in an epic encounter. Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by 23 runs in Dubai and stunned the cricket fraternity. The Lankans clinched the sixth Asia Cup title. Wanindu Hasaranga was adjudged the man of the tournament whereas Bhanuka Rajapaksa was named the man of the match for his unbeaten 71* in the final.
