Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali was on the receiving end of abuse after he dropped a regulation catch during the second semi-final against Australia at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. During the crucial situation of the semi-final, Hasan Ali could have easily grabbed a catch to dismiss Matthew Wade but that wasn’t meant to be.
The fielder sprinted to take a catch but ended up dropping it. Meanwhile, Pakistan fans were taken aback by Hasan Ali’s fielding effort. Matthew Wade capitalized the opportunity properly by smashing a hat-trick of sixes off Shaheen Shah Afridi. Australia aced the run-chase in 19 overs and won the game by 5 wickets.
After Australia knocked Pakistan out of the semi-final, fans from every nook and corner of the Pakistan cricket fraternity abused Hasan Ali for his shoddy fielding mistake. Meanwhile, some fans even pointed out that this was because that he is married to an Indian girl Samiya Arzoo.
From then on, Samiya’s name trended on social media portals. For the unversed, Samiya is an aeronautical engineer by training and got hitched to Hasan in a grand ceremony in Dubai in 2019. Some fans claimed that the game was ‘fixed’ by Ali as he was married to an Indian woman.
Hailing from Chandeni village in Haryana’s Palwal district, Samiya is currently recruited as a flight engineer with Emirates airlines. Her father identified as Liaquat Ali is a retired Block Development Officer. He is associated with the Haryana government. Samiya did her education from Faridabad, where the family has been residing for more than 15 years now.
Samiya and Hasan met a year ago through a close friend in Dubai. “I spoke to my brother and sister-in-law after I met her. I told my brother that I wanted to marry her and the family had no issue,” Hasan is quoted as saying by Pakistan’s ‘The Nation’ website.
