Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey’s first-ever tweet sold for Rs 18 crore

Meanwhile, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey’s first ever tweet was sold for a whopping INR 18 crore. The entrepreneur expressed that he will donate those earnings to charity.

The auction for the very first tweet by Twitter CEO fetched $2.4 million (just over Rs 18 crore). Dorsey also declared that the whole auction proceeds “would be donated to charity”, preferably in bitcoins.

Dorsey’s first-ever Twitter on the micro-blogging platform is 15 years old. The old tweet was put up for auction as an NFT (non-fungible token) on a portal called “Valuables” has reportedly been attained by Sina Estavi, who is the CEO of tech company Bridge Oracle.

Jack Dorsey who wrote the first tweet on March 2006, reads, “just setting up my twttr”.

In a previous tweet, Twitter CEO had promised that the $2.4 million will be converted to Bitcoin and then handed it over to GiveDirectly’s initiative to offer COVID-19 relief to Africa.

He had written, “Ending this March 21st. Will immediately convert proceeds to #Bitcoin. And send to @GiveDirectly Africa Response”.

Let’s also not forget that Twitter’s CEO, Jack Dorsey had donated $1 billion (Rs 7,549 crore) to fight against the coronavirus pandemic. This is the largest donation pledged by a private individual in the fight against the pandemic.
