Kerala: Shamim and Naufal arrested for sexually harassing Minor tribal girls, social media shows anger against them

The Kerala police have apprehended two teenage youths from Wayanad for allegedly raping two minor Adivasi girls on new years eve. The two accused persons have been identified as Mohammad Noufal and Kaniampatta Shamim. The youths, aged 18 and 19 respectively, hail from Kambalakkad, one of the small towns near Kalpetta in the Wayanad district, Kerala.

The incident came to light when a parent of one of the girls lodged a missing complaint with the police. It is alleged that the two accused persons used to talk to the two minor girls over the phone and gradually established a relationship.

On new years eve, the youths took the minor girls to a lodge in Mysore where they raped them. The boys have been arrested and charged under the POCSO Act and the Prevention of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Violence Act.

Earlier, the Trivandrum police arrested two brothers, Naushad and Nawas, in connection with the rape of two minors, one 10-years-old and the other 5-years-old in Thiruvallam Pachallur. The accused Naushad and Nawas were reportedly twins. The brothers allegedly raped the little girls several times. The twin brothers, Naushad and Nawas, were sent to 14-days judicial custody.
