Shahid Siddiqui disturbed by Diwali crackers sounds, users reminded him of Azan

Former MP Shahid Siddiqui has landed himself in controversy after he made a statement on Twitter against the bursting of firecrackers on Diwali festival. His comments didn’t go down well on the internet, where he was accused of being insensitive towards Hindus.

Siddiqui tweeted on Sunday (November 15, 2020) at 4:53 am in the morning, asking what type of people blast loud crackers at 4.30 am in the morning? He claimed that he heard a loud buzz of firecrackers in the morning. He also said that what is the use of banning firecrackers, if the decision can not be implemented?

On the occasion of Diwali, people generally take the celebration to another step to enjoyment as massive fireworks are lit up the sky. Siddiqui said that New Delhi’s air quality has already reached its worst level this year. And fireworks on Diwali has made things even worse as the traditional rounds of firecrackers add to the air pollution.

A Twitter user named BechainBanker wrote that he agrees with what Shahid Siddiqui said and the Supreme Court guidelines on sound systems used by mosques should be followed. “What is the point of banning anything if it’s not be implemented?”, he added.

Shahid Siddiqui got furious when people talked about the namaz in the mosque. He asked users to stop burning firecrackers in the morning. Reminding him of Azan, people said that Siddiqui is bothered by the sounds of firecrackers and small explosions, but why he has no problem with the 5 times Azan per day?

Shahid Siddiqui, who criticised people for burning firecrackers on Diwali, remained silent on these arguments. Journalist Rupa Subramanya, on the other hand, opposed Opindia’s ‘Mission Bright and Loud Diwali 2021’. Rupa said that he had not seen any campaign that promoted more pollution, or supported an industry that relied on ‘child labor’. He used the word ‘Poop India’ for Opindia and said that it is going to new depths every day.
