“India will become a Hindu Rashtra by 2022”, says Munawwar Rana

Urdu poet Munawwar Rana has once again landed himself in controversy after he made a controversial statement, stating that by 2022 India will become an exclusively Hindu nation.

Munawwar often hits the headlines for all the wrong reasons. He feels alienated and insecure under Yogi Adityanath’s rule in Uttar Pradesh. He called the BJP IT cell a terrorist cell and alleged that the motive of BJP is to make the country a Hindu nation.

Speaking on Asaduddin Owaisi, Rana was quick to respond that he never liked him. His father was just the same as Owaisi is now. Rana says, ‘More than Hindus, Muslims don’t like him. He says he will fix India in 15 minutes. He is making statements from where he is surrounded by Muslims. They only know how to trick people.’

The poet said, ‘Here Owaisi comes and chants Muslim-Muslim. In Bihar fought elections in 22 seats and gave the edge to the BJP. There are 11 seats were RJD and Congress lost by a low margin. And when the BJP comes in majority, he shamefully says that he is extending support.’

Controversial poet went on to call Asaduddin Owaisi, president of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM), a ‘BJP agent’. Rana claimed that the AIMIM was a “tact” of the BJP in Bihar elections. He requested all “secular” parties to beware of Owaisi.

Earlier, Munawwar Rana made a condemnable remark on the brutal beheading of French History teacher Samuel Paty by an Islamist terrorist. Supporting the beheading of Paty, Rana said that he would have done the same. Speaking to Zee News over France attacks, Rana made this highly insensitive remark.

“Agar abhi koi shaksh mere baap cartoon koi aisa ba de koi ganda, mera maa cartoon koi aisa ganda bna de to hum to usko maar denge” (If someone makes an objectional caricature of my father or my mother then we will kill him.), said Rana.

Following which, the Uttar Pradesh police booked him for allegedly justifying the killings in France over caricatures of Prophet Muhammed.
