Faridabad Love Jihad: Muslim boy forced the girl to convert to Islam, wanted to kidnap her

It is no secret that some youths from Muslim community are involved in the heinous practice of Love Jihad, an alleged effort made by them only to target beautiful and rich women belonging to non-Muslim communities for religious conversion to Islam by ‘fake love’.

This infamous concept first came to light in India in the year 2009 with alleged conversions in Kerala and Karnataka. Slowly, it started to spread across all states of India.

In a recent heartbreaking incident that took the entire nation by shock, a Hindu girl, hailing from Ballabgarh in Faridabad, was shot dead in broad daylight by two men as she fell prey to a trap of ‘love jihad’.

The girl, a B.Com final year student identified as Nikita Tomar, was killed outside her college in Ballabgarh in Haryana’s Faridabad district on Monday. The victim had last month filed a complaint of molestation and harassment against one of the accused, Taufeeq.

The relative stated that the Hindu girl Nikita fell into the trap which was laid by Taufeeq alias Sajeed. He started harassing Nikita three years ago. However, a complaint was filed against him for harassment and molestation few months back. Later, the family dropped the case.

Lately, the accused again allegedly started hounding her and forcing her to convert to Islam. The relative confirmed that the accused initially wanted to abduct her but killed her when she resisted to his demands. The family has now demanded a probe into murder case.

Journalist Raj Shekhar Jha shared CCTV footage on Twitter which is doing the rounds on social media. In the video, the killer could be seen stepping out of his car and pulling out his revolver. Nikita is seen struggling to get free and manages to flee for a brief moment before the accused grabs her again. While Nikita struggles to escape from her attacker, he then shoots her in the point-blank range.

The other accused too got out of the car and pulled Taufeeq back into the car. The duo then fled the crime scene. Nikita was rushed to the hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.

The primary accused has now been arrested. While speaking about the incident, ACP (Ballabgarh) Jaiveer Rathi informed, “One of the accused identified as Taufeeq hailing from Sohna was known to the victim and a complaint against him had been lodged by the victim’s kin a few months ago for harassment and molestation but a compromise had been reached.” According to him, the ‘rejection of friendship’ could be a motive behind the crime.
