Six other people have also been charged under the POCSO Act for sexually abusing the girl.

The incident came to light when the survivor lodged a complaint at Nileshwaram police station. Although the victim’s mother knew about the incident, she was afraid not to take the issue outside the family. Therefore, she did not inform the police.

So far, four people, including the victim’s father, have been arrested in connection with the case. Three of them are 19-year-old Riyas, 20-year-old Ijaz and 20-year-old Mohammed Ali.

The incident was reported after the maternal uncle of the victim lodged a complaint at the Nileshwaram police station. The victim in her statement said, “My father raped me daily for over three years.”

PR Manoj, the investigating officer said the girl became pregnant and underwent an illegal abortion two months ago. The senior police added that the doctor who performed the abortion is also under investigation as he failed to report the crime.
