Google CEO Sundar Pichai is famous all across the world for his epic success. From staying in a two-room apartment in Chennai to living in a beautifully designed home in the USA, he has come a long way. He has had quite an interesting journey.

Pichai’s story seems straight out of a Bollywood flick, a tale of a boy born without a silver spoon in the mouth going to achieve one of the most coveted positions in the world through sheer hard work.

The success story of the Google CEO is not hidden to the world. Pichai Sundararajan, more commonly known to us as Sundar Pichai was born in Madurai, in the state of Tamil Nadu on July 12, 1972. The successful CEO was a shy kid, as well as a bright student.

He completed his schooling in Jawahar Vidyalaya, a CBSE school in Chennai, and did his 12th grade from Vana Vani school which is situated in the clamor of IIT, Madras. Later, he earned his degree from IIT, Kharagpur, Kolkata in metallurgical engineering.

Pichai went to Stanford University for his Masters in Material Science and Engineering. He went to Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania for his MBA. In, Wharton, he was named as the Siebel Scholar and a Palmer Scholar.

As most of us already know, Sundar comes from a middle-class Indian family from Tamil Nadu. His father Regunatha Pichai was a Senior Electrical Engineer and his mother was a stenographer before she had children.

Talking about his childhood, Pichai’s family did not even have TV. At the age of 12, he saw technology in his hands when his father brought a telephone. The phone revealed to him the magical conveniences of technology, as well as an unusual gift: He could remember every number he ever dialed. “My uncle would call up and say, ‘Hey, I lost this phone number, but you once helped me dial it,’ and I would be able to tell him,” Pichai says. “I wasn’t so sure that was useful.”

To help him in fulfilling his dreams, his father withdrew more than his annual salary from the family’s savings to fly him to the United States. “My dad and mom did what a lot of parents did at the time,” Pichai says. “They sacrificed a lot of their life and used a lot of their disposable income to make sure their children were educated.”

In 2004, he joined Google and worked on popular products like Toolbar, Google Gears and Google Pack before Chrome was launched. Google’s toolbar had turned out to become a huge success giving him the desired stage, recognition and most importantly, the edge above all.

In 2008, he was appointed as VP (Vice President) of product development. He introduced the Chrome browser and it was followed by Chrome OS in 2009. And in 2008; Google launched their first yet world’s best browser – Google Chrome!

From 2008, He became a well-known face of Google and came to the limelight. Today, he is CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of Google, the highest-ranking executive in a company or organisation, earning 3.5 crore rupees per day. He is playing an important role in running the business. His role is to make major corporate decisions, managing the whole operations as well as the resources of the company.

Sundar Pichai has done metallurgical engineering from IIT Kharagpur and has done MBA from material science from Wharton school of the University of Pennsylvania and he did M.S from Stanford University. Today, he is a recognised personality in the tech world. His potential net worth is estimated to be at $1.2 billion. His whopping salary is $199.7 million.
