With feminism and women empowerment becoming the most-talked subjects, actresses in the Bollywood film industry have become more open about prevalent issues. On the other side, there are actresses who have had extra marital affairs as well.
Case in point, Poonam Dhillon was one of the most gorgeous actresses in the Bollywood industry. She gained stardom because of her sensational movies. The actress tasted good success in Bollywood but had roller coaster of a love life because of her extra marital affairs in the Bollywood film Industry.
Her life took a dramatic turn when she clinched the “Miss Young India Crown”. She became an overnight sensation. From her debut movie Trishul to her recent movie ‘Double Di Trouble’, the actress had worked in over 80 movies.
Ramesh Talwar had an opportunity to partner with Poonam. He had a vision of her portraying the protagonist in the film ‘Noorie’. The main idea of the film was proposed to Yash Chopra and it went to floors.
During the movie sets, Ramesh and Poonam developed good friendship and became good friends. At that time, Ramesh fell in love with the Punjabi beauty and also bought a bungalow for her to reside in Mumbai.
She was even linked with Yash Chopra at that time but she dismissed the talks. She also felt that it was very disrespecting to link her with the legend. As times progressed, Ramesh’s feelings for Poonam grew strong. However, she considered him as a good friend and then soon cut ties with him.
During the 1980’s when Poonam gained fame and was at the extreme peak of her career, it was when Raj Sippy entered her life.
They both met while shooting for a movie. It was at that time when Poonam fell for the director who was already hitched.
But Raj didn’t leave his family for her while Poonam didn’t want to be the other woman.
It was indeed a hard phase in Poonam’s life in 1988. She broke up with Raj and lost her father. It was when she stumbled upon her husband-to-be, producer Ashok Thakeria. He then noticed her at a farmhouse during Holi celebrations and was mesmerized by her beauty.
As she was mourning the demise of her father, he tried support her by pouring a bucket full of water on her. Poonam was totally shocked but encouraged the gesture.
In the same year itself, the both got hitched. The couple had a son and a daughter. In the year 1994, Ashok had an extra marital affair but his marriage started to fall apart. She gave a give him a taste of his own medicine by having an extra marital affair herself. Poonam then applied for a divorce and also got custody of her children. Later, she stood by herself by doing a few projects and went on set up her own business too.
