The 38-year-old Shobharam, whose son is a student of class 10, is a tribal labourer from Dhar district in Madhya Pradesh. Since no public transport was available due to the COVID-19 lockdown Shobhram had to travel on a bicycle with his son for 105km to ensure he does not miss Class 10 board’s supplementary exam in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district.

Shobharam said that he doesn’t know who Mahindra is, but was aware of “Mahindra scooters”. When TOI spoke to Shobharam, he broke into tears. “If a child can study without the worries of roti-kapda-makan, his and the country’s future will be bright,” he said.

“He must be a big man. I was told by someone from the Mahindra Group that they have offered to help and support my child’s education. I am happy to know that. I only want my son to get a good education,” said Shobharam.

“Nobody knew us before. We are poor people. We never thought somebody would try to speak with us, know our names, or take interest in our struggles,” he added.

Shobhram had to face difficulty during the travel but he had no other option. He did this for his son as he wants his son to be highly educated. It has been reported that he covered the distance of 105 kilometre in eight hours on August 17. Shobharam said he wants to see his son becoming an officer.
