Delhi police constable shot dead 28yr old youth for allegedly recording him drinking wine

In a shocking incident, a 28-year-old gym owner was allegedly killed by a Delhi Police head constable when they got into an argument over filming a video of them drinking together near Rohini locality in Delhi.

Police said head constable Surender was returning to his home after duty when he met Deepak Gehlot. Gehlot was going back home from his relative’s house. He offered Surender a lift. They then decided to have a drink. The accused told police Gehlot began filming a video of him drinking. He asked him not to shoot the video as he was in uniform.

Subsequently, the two started arguing with each other, leading to a scuffle. Surender told the police that Gehlot attempted to attack him, therefore he pulled out his service revolver to defend himself and shot him on the shoulder and chest. He then fled from the spot. A passerby took Gehlot to Baba Shaheb Ambedkar hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival, according to a report by TOI.

Delhi Police spokesperson Anil Mittal said that the accused cop has been arrested for his “unprofessional conduct” and he will be dismissed from service soon. He added that Surender has been booked for murder.

In another incident, a Punjab Police ASI had allegedly shot dead famous Kabaddi player Arvinder Jeet Singh Padda in Lakhan Ke Padde village in Kapurthala district of Punjab in May. The cop fired shots from his official revolver at the now-deceased Kabaddi player after he questioned him for parking his car on the roadside.
