Salute this officer, IAS shares his marksheet, says he got 1 mark above passing marks in 12th class

The CBSE Class 12th 2020 results were declared on July 13 (Monday) on their official website cbseresults.nic.in.

Like previous years, the Board has declared the class 12 results for Arts, Commerce and Science streams on the same day. As many as 11,92,961 students had appeared in CBSE class 12 examination this year, out of which 10,59,080 passed. The overall pass percentage is recorded at 88.78%, compared to last year’s 83.40%.

While many students have got good marks, some may have not lived up to the expectations. For those who are disappointed at the result, a UPSC Topper has come up with his story where he failed to impress in CBSE Results. IAS Officer Nitin Sangwan took to Twitter to share his Class 12 CBSE mark sheet of 2002.

His mark sheet shows that he had just managed to score the passing marks in Chemistry. Encouraging students, he wrote, “In my 12th exams, I got 24 marks in Chemistry – just 1 mark above passing marks. But that didn’t decide what I wanted from my life Don’t bog down kids with the burden of marks Life is much more than board results Let results be an opportunity for introspection & not for criticism.”

He asked the students to not get bogged down with the burden of marks as “life is much more than board results”. As soon as he posted his tweet, it went viral in no time and it has garnered 13,7000 retweets and comments and 52,6000 likes.

Interacting with the Twitterati, he also said, “I am not glorifying poor marks. Marks system remains an objective way of evaluation, but should not become an obsession…I never took any coaching for general studies…life is never luck. It is hard work, passion and persistence…I don’t say marks are not important. They are one of the ways of benchmarking. But there are so many other ways also to evaluate success.

IFS Officer Parveen Kaswan also came in support of Nitin and shared his struggle with English. He wrote, “English did same for me. Still struggling ;-)”
