Vikas Dubey, the main accused in the killing of eight policemen in Kanpur, was shot dead in an encounter. The notorious gangster was caught in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain after a week-long chase. The encounter broke out after the gangster tried to flee while the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) was taking him by road from Ujjain to Kanpur.

Gangster Vikas Dubey had built an empire of crime. He used to earn in crores as his annual turnover was over Rs 10 crore which came from illegal trades such as land grabbing and money lending on interest. He also had a group of his teammates who would help him win big contracts.

The ED is now investigating the bank accounts of Dubey’s close aides and some other transactions. According to sources in the ED, Dubey earned somewhere between Rs 90 lakh and Rs 1.20 crore. But he never splurged money on trips abroad, or bought expensive goods.

It has been learnt that Vikas Dubey, through his close friend Jayakant Bajpai, had invested crores of rupees in the pet business. During the investigation, a plush pet showroom in Brahmanagar has been found.

According to sources, about two crore rupees were spent to build this showroom. It is said to be the most expensive pet shop in the city. Besides, he had huge property amassed illegally. Apart from an ancestral farm measuring 150 bighas in Bikru village, Dubey had two flats in Lucknow.

Surprisingly, the owner of this mall, who previously used to work for only Rs 3500 a month, became a millionaire in just six years.

According to sources, Vikas opened a pet shop in Brahmanagar three years ago after coming in contact with Jai which is the most luxurious pet shop in the city.

Earlier, in a heart-wrenching incident, eight police personnel were shot dead by a gang led by Vikas Dubey. In what could be termed as a shocking crime in Kanpur, police officials were attacked by miscreants, allegedly because they attempted to arrest the infamous historysheeter Vikas Dubey.

The incident reportedly occurred in Bikru village where police had gone to arrest the gangster. It is being told that Vikas Dubey had got information before the police raid, his accomplice Daya Shankar Agnihotri has revealed. Following the incident, police launched an investigation on how gangster Vikas Dubey got the information about the raid at his house.

One of the most wanted Vikas Dubey had 60 cases in his name. He was also accused of killing a minister in the former Rajnath Singh government in UP.
