Amid the worldwide panic over the novel coronavirus, National Conference (NC) general secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar has tested positive for COVID-19 along with three of his family members, the family said here on Thursday.
Sagar’s son, Salman Sagar took to Twitter to inform, “It is requested to all my friends and well wishers to pray for my family as 4 of our family members tested positive for COVID-19 today including my father. Do remember in prayers & May allah keep all of us under his protection ( Aameen),”
Ali Mohammad has been kept under medical observation in an isolation ward. His family members have also been tested positive for coronavirus. The cause of infection is yet to be ascertained from whom Mohammad Sagar caught the virus.
It has been learnt that the NC general secretary was recently released after 10 months in detention under the Public Safety (PSA) Act on June 17. He was taken into custody on the eve of the abrogation of Article 370 last year. A day after his release, NC president and Srinagar Lok Sabha member, Farooq Abdullah, and several party leaders had met Sagar at his residence.
The novel coronavirus, which originated in Wuhan, China, is bent upon killing human beings, eliminating them. By far, the virus has affected over 11 million people globally and the global death toll has risen to at least 525,414. In India alone, the confirmed positive cases of coronavirus have surpassed 633,381 so far, while at least 18,320 people have died in the country from the infection.
