But none of these negative factors defeated Vikaas Gutgutia as he pushed himself to do better and hence he found great success with his brand Ferns n Petals.

In 1994, Vikaas made an investment of Rs 5,000 in the flower business, is today a Rs 360 crore empire, this is one of the most inspirational stories. Today, he is the founder of “Ferns N Petals”.

Let’s take a look at how Vikaas Gutgutia touched the pinnacle of success from the flower shop.

This is the story of Vikaas Gutgutia from Bihar who started his business with just Rs 5,000 and built an internationally renowned brand and brought a revolution in the floriculture industry.

The floriculture industry is one of the most dynamic and fast-growing industries in India with an annual growth of 30%. Vikaas Gutgutia found great success with his brand Ferns n Petals.

He was born in a middle-class family in a village named Vidyasagar in Bihar. He completed his education and graduation from a local school in West Bengal. He wanted to try his luck in business and therefore, he learned the basics of a flower business through his uncle as he used to help his uncle in his flower shop while Vikaas was still studying.

Since the financial condition was not strong, Vikaas joined a company for two years to earn a livelihood and at the same time was hunting for business opportunities in Mumbai and Delhi. Vikaas came across a partner who made an investment of Rs 2.5 Lakhs in the business but the partner couldn’t wait long for profits and hence the partnership ended soon. Vikaas still managed to keep running the business by retailing flowers.

Vikaas was focused on providing better service, decorations, and variations with appealing flowers which did not exist in this unorganized industry, thus he touched the pinnacle of success. 

Over the years, he decided to expand his retail business nationwide. He started franchising his brand Ferns n Petals Boutique and kept minimum criteria of 200-300 square feet area of the showroom and with an investment of Rs 10 to 12 lakh. The company provides gift items, flowers, and accessories, infrastructure support and training on flower decoration for store functioning.

Ferns N Petals generated impressive revenue with time, today it touched the annual turnover of nearly Rs 400 crore and it has 240 franchised stores in total in 93 cities in India. Presently, Ferns N Petals has become a global brand.

Vikaas is making all necessary efforts to touch at least Rs 500 crore turnover as soon as possible. He also wants to expand overseas and wants to become world’s biggest florist.
